The Beavers uniform is similar in may ways to that of the Wolf Cubs, in so much they wear a jersey and a cap. In the Beaver’s case you will note their caps are Black in color with a light grey trim, which makes it very distinctive. You would have noticed that this is different from our UK brothers and sister pictured above. This is because we were granted consent from the Grand Scout in the UK to change the colours to be more in keeping with New Zealand culture.
The Beaver Uniform is as follows:-
- Beaver Cap, Black with a light grey trim, adjustable.(hired $10.00 Deposit)
- Beaver Sweater, Oxford Grey Sweatshirt.
- Black Cargo Shorts
- Black Socks with 2 white hoops.
- Wolf Cub Green Garter Tabs.
- Group Scarf Royal Blue with white trim.
How Much does it all cost?
The cost of the Beavers uniform is the same as the Wolf Cubs, however, we will be hiring the caps to you in this case, so you only pay a $10.00 deposit, so the whole uniform including this deposit is $69.00 if you include shorts or $51.00 if you have your own. The good thing is both the shorts, sock and garter tabs can be worn at Wolf Cubs so you don’t have to purchase them again.
Shoes or Footware:-
All Beavers must wear closed toed shoes, or trainers preferably black. This to prevent any damage to their feet when they are running around outside.
Size and making sure it all fits:-
There’s nothing worse than ordering clothing for a child and then it doesn’t fit, to prevent this from happening we have kit in stock that you can try on to ensure, what you have ordered and will fit your child hopefully right to the end of their stay in Beavers. So please ask us if you would like your child to try uniform on and we can arrange for some to be brought along to the hall.
What do we get once we’ve paid?
When you’ve purchased your uniform, you will be issued with everything with the exception of the cap and scarf, these are an earned piece of kit and l can only be worn by a Beaver who has learnt the promise and completed the requirements of becoming an invested Beaver.
Once you have paid your membership fee, you will also receive your starter badge sets, these are the group and organisational badges for the Beaver Jumper, these should be sewn onto the uniform as soon as possible, please see Beaver Uniform Layout for further information or ask one of the leaders for help.
The membership fee pays for the Beaver woggle, scarf, badges and certificates. The scarf and woggle along with the Cap are received when the Beaver is Invested.
